To reduce the construction impact on the site, this home is planned to be built on the original footprint of a previous structure situated on a hill overlooking a pond. Designed for a lively young family of six, a combination of open and closed spaces provide community and privacy. A simple palate of materials was chosen to blend with the rural setting and features a metal roof and natural cedar siding. The main level plan has an open kitchen-living-dining area which separates the master suite to the east and a wing of office, sunroom, and screen porch to the west. Vaulted ceilings in the open living area flow seamlessly outward providing views through large windows overlooking the pond at the base of the hill. The lower level features a walkout providing a direct connection to the outdoors. Most of the windows face south to bring natural light and solar warmth to the interior spaces. A screen porch and elevated deck further connect the outdoors with the interior spaces.
